HOME BASED TECHNOLOGY TEACHER APPOINTMENT
JOB DESCRIPTION

TechSoft is a pro-active and innovative company committed to providing high standards of resources and support. Following on from the appointment of Alex Wood (Eastern Sales & Training Manager) last year, continued expansion means that there is an ever increasing requirement for demonstrations, training, development of resource materials, etc.

TechSoft are looking to recruit another regional sales and support person. The area to be covered will include much of the SW of England and South Wales. Travel to schools, colleges, teachers centres, etc., to demonstrate software and equipment, and to provide inset training and machine maintenance on-site, will be a large component of the work. The successful candidate will need to live in, or re-locate to a suitable location to cover these areas, e.g., the Bristol area, and will work from home. Demonstration equipment and a company van will be provided. (The company van will require off-road parking.) Close liaison with head office through telephone/email will be essential. Regular weekly reports on work done and monthly visits to our head office will be required.

The main responsibilities will be as follows:

1. Promote and develop sales in schools, colleges and universities.
2. Organise regional sales demonstrations and exhibitions.
3. Attend major national exhibitions as required.
4. Deliver regional INSET training sessions.
5. Provide on site technical support and machine maintenance.
6. Develop training courses for general company delivery.
7. Prepare materials for display at exhibitions.
8. Assist in the research and development of new ideas and products.
9. Assist with the production of in-house support and advertising materials.
10. Assist with the preparation of other training and support materials, eg., machine INSET packs and CAD/CAM projects.

Candidates must be pro-active and will mainly organise their own schedule. A high degree of self-motivation, self-organisation, flexibility and energy will be required.

The successful candidate will be one of a small but successful team, and must be prepared to be a team player, helping out in any area as necessary. The salary and exact job description will depend on the strengths and experience of the individual candidate. As you would expect, we anticipate that the starting salary will be at least commensurate, or better than, the successful candidate’s current teaching salary.

Hours: Office hours are 37.5 hours per week – 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday with a half hour lunch. When out on visits, hours will be “as is necessary”.

Holidays: 25 days (plus Bank Holidays). Of these, 17 are at fixed times, namely 10 for our summer closedown (first full two weeks in August), 3 for our Christmas closedown and 4 for our Easter closedown. The remaining 8 must be taken during normal school holidays.

Candidates should have some relevant teaching experience, but enthusiasm, a willingness to learn, technical competence, an ability to get on with people, and patience are more important than current or previous teaching status. Familiarity with TechSoft products will be an advantage but is not essential as the required training will be given.

If you are interested in applying for the above post which is to commence on 1st September 2008, please send your C.V. and covering letter, by Friday 16th May 2008 to Mr. Andrew Gregory, General Manager.
